POONCH, Nov 26: Two- day national conference on the theme “Science, Society and Sustainable Development” was organized by Poonch Campus, University of Jammu in collaboration with Government Degree College Poonch.
The conference is being taken as historic event for boosting the research as the budding Scientist of Peer Panjal range in general and for the success of the Poonch Campus in particular, where 230 abstracts were received from different States like Rajasthan, UP, Punjab, Karnataka, Manipur etc. Various budding research scholars and academicians participated in two day Science Conference, which was inaugurated by Prof Javed Mussarat, Vice Chancellor BGSBU, Rajouri.
Several key note speakers viz Prof S K Khosa of Central University of Jammu, Prof. Susheel Sharma, Head Department of Electronics, JU, Dr Priyanka Sharma, Department of Life Long Learning, JU, Dr Parvinder Pal Singh, Scientist IIIM Jammu, Prof Shabir Hussain Shah, Principal, Govt Degree College Mendhar, Dr B S Bhau, Department of Botany CUJ, enlightened the delegates by highlighting the importance of such mega event particularly in the era of Science and Technology.
Prof M H Shah, Principal GDC Poonch and convenor of the conference, elaborated as to why such kind of topics are necessary to debate.
The programme was also attended by the senior citizens of Poonch, District Development Commissioner Poonch, Tariq Ahmed Zargar and MLA Haveli, Shah Mohd Tantray.
Prof R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor JU was chief guest in the valedictory function today.
He talked about the balance required for attaining sustainable development in society. He stressed upon quality research which is need of the hour in the present scenario for the growth and the development of the country.
Prof. Shakeel Ahmed Raina, Principal GDC Thannamandi was the guest of honour for the occasion. Several others senior most Professors, Scientists, academicians, scholars and students were also present during the event.
During the conference, several technical sessions were held besides poster presentations in the Library Hall.
