Srinagar, Nov 26: Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee (JKCC) today slammed State Government for issuing ‘roster law’ for business community of Valley which however has been kept in abeyance as of now.
“The application of some ‘roster law’ in Kashmir issued by Labour Commissioner is yet another experiment to push trading community to the wall as their economic conditions have been reeling in crisis,” said a statement issued by JKCC.
“Instead, Government should understand their plight but they are subjected to the laws and rules which simply add to their woes,” the Coordination Committee said. The JKCC said the extension of GST in Jammu and Kashmir “is one of the worst laws in the recent past as this was made applicable against the wishes of the people”.
“This (roster law) also looks like another attempt of the Government to divert the attention of traders’ community from their struggle of getting the fiscal autonomy of Jammu and Kashmir restored to its original shape and form. Through this roster law the powers that be want us to leave behind the ‘GST struggle’ and want us to, perhaps, agitate on this Act,” it said. The JKCC said that the roster law shall not have any impact on its struggle which states “in no uncertain terms that we will keep the mission and struggle going unless we get: the Presi-dential Order on GST withdrawn, GST rolled back and J&K decl-ared a free economic zone”.
