JAMMU, Nov 27: Large number of 10th class students of different educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir, who appeared for scholarship examination conducted by the State Board of School Education (BOSE) yesterday, have alleged series of irregularities in the question papers.
A number of students, who appeared in the examinations, said there was complete chaos in some sets of question papers as Serial numbers in some of them were missing or had been repeated, which made it difficult for them to answer.
“There was mistakes’ galore in several sets of question papers and no student would have answered that,” one of the agitated students told the Excelsior.
Students said immediately after the exam was over, they sent an email to Board of School Education authorities explaining wrong setting of the question papers. They added that they would also send a detailed complaint to the BOSE, the Authority for conducting the exam, apprising them of the mistakes in various sets of question papers.
The BOSE takes the examination for extending scholarships to the students for higher studies. Nearly 20,000 students of 10th Standard appeared in the exams, which had already been postponed twice,
“And now when the paper was held after two postponements, it was full of mistakes,” they lamented.
Around 40 students are picked up for scholarships from the examination.
When contacted, BOSE Chairperson Veena Pandita said that a committee has been constituted to look into the complaints of mistakes and action shall be taken accordingly. “If there are mistakes in less than 10 questions, we will accord grace marks to the candidates but if the number of mistakes is more, fresh exam will be conducted,” she said and added that a decision in this regard will be taken within a week.
