Cong pays floral tributes to Girdhari Lal Dogra

JAMMU, Nov 27: Floral tributes were paid to former MP and veteran Congress leader late Girdhari Lal Dogra on his 30th death anniversary by the Pradesh Congress at a function held here today.
PCC chief GA Mir presided over the function organized by District Congress Committee Jammu Urban under the presidentship of Anil Chopra. Several senior functionaries and leaders of PCC, DCC and Block Congress attended the programme. Prominent among those included PCC vice president Raman Bhalla, senior Congress leader Gurmukh Singh, Ravinder Sharma, SS Channi, Farooq Andrabi, GL Chalotra, YV Sharma and KL Gupta.
Addressing the gathering Mir described late Dogra as a great leader of the party who remained committed to the principles of secularism, socialism and democracy and fought against the communal and divisive forces throughout his life. His contributions to the State would always be remembered. He asked the present generation to learn from the life and contributions of Dorga Sahib and follow his principles in true spirit for maintaining peace and harmony and strengthen brotherhood in the society and to defeat the designs of communal forces in the State.
Former minister Raman Bhalla, Gurmukh Singh and Ravinder Sharma while paying tributes to late Dogra said that Dogra Sahib dedicated his whole life for strengthening the Congress party & its principles and worked for the upliftment of weaker sections. They described him a true Gandhian having staunch belief in secularism, socialism and democracy. He (Dogra Sahib) worked for the welfare of poor and weaker sections of the society and served the State in various capacities.
He played an important role to bring Railway line to Jammu and its further extension project to Udhampur.
Anil Chopra described him as a messiah of poor and downtrodden and symbol of honesty and simplicity throughout his life. He (Dogra Sahib) always worked for strengthening the bonds of unity and brotherhood.
District Congress Committee, Kathua led by former MLC, Subash Gupta also paid rich tributes to late Girdhari Lal Dogra, Ex-Finance Minister and Ex-MP on his death anniversary, at Hiranagar Morh today. A large number of people were present on the occasion to pay homage to the veteran Congress leader and son of the soil, known for his honesty and simplicity. “The people of the State are proud that such a charismatic leader was borne at village Bhiya of Hiranagar tehsil,” Gupta added.
