JAMMU, Nov 16: State Vigilance Organization today booked Head Constable Amar Paul Singh, PSO of the then DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range for duping the innocent people for job and taking Rs 4,30,000 as bribe money from them.
An official spokesman said that during the course of verification into complaint lodged by Pritam Singh, son of Rattan Chand of Sirsa, Chenani and others against Head Constable Amar Pal Singh, it came to fore that Head Constable had demanded and accepted Rs 4,30,000 from the complainant and others on the pretext of getting them recruited in J&K Police for which recruitment was in process in the month of April 2010.
Upon notification issued from Police Headquarters, the private persons appeared in the physical endurance test conducted at Udhampur and paid bribe amount of Rs 4,30,000 to the Head Constable for selection.
When the complainants did not find their names in the selection list they approached the Head Constable to return their money who declined to pay back the same.
During enquiry, it has been established that the Head Constable by virtue of being posted as PSO to DIG Udhampur-Reasi range had abused his official position and cheated the complainant and others by making them to believe that he could ensure their selection as constables.
