JAMMU, Nov 29: One person was killed while seven others were injured today in two separate road accidents in city outskirts.
According to a police official, a speeding Alto car bearing registration number JK02BJ-9531, which was on its way from Akhnoor to Phlain Mandaal, went out of control near Garhi Morh (Purkhoo) on Jammu-Akhnoor National Highway and turned turtle. He said the mishap occurred at about 11.30 AM when the occupants of the car were returning after attending a marriage function.
“In the mishap, one person identified as Pritam Singh (65) son of Raseela Ram of Gandu Chak, was killed on the spot while four occupants of the car namely Parshotam (42) son of Parkash Singh of Sohanjana, Prince (6) son of Joginder Kumar of Phlain Mandaal, Balbir Singh (42) son of Parkash Singh of Gandu Chak and Kanta Devi (60) wife of Pritam Singh of Gandu Chak got injured”, the official said, adding all the injured were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment while the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after completing all medico-legal formalities.
Another mishap occurred today at about 3.30 AM at Suketar in Jhajjar Kotli area, where a Swift car bearing registration number JK14D-6979 rolled down the road and plunged into a 15-feet deep nullah.
In the mishap, three persons travelling in the car sustained injuries. They were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. The injured were identified as Anil Bhogal (30) son of late Romesh Lal Bhogal, resident of Udhampur, Bhanu Priya (23), wife of Anil Bhogal and Ritik (23) son of Sudesh, resident of Janipur.
In both the cases, the concerned police had registered cases and started investigations.
