JAMMU, Dec 1: Eid Milad-ul-Nabi —the birthday of Prophet Mohammad was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety by Muslim community across Jammu region today.
On the occasion religious processions, religious congregations and lectures on life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed were given at different places by the Islamic scholars.
The main function in connection with celebration of Eid Milad –ul-Nabi was held at Jammu under the aegis of All J&K Seerat –ul-_Nabi Conference headed by Haji Abdul Majid.
The function started with taking out of religious procession which began from Jamia Masjid Jammu and passed via Lakhdata Bazar, Talab Khatikan, DC Office Chowk, Gujjar Nagar, Prem Nagar , Vinayak Nagar and culminated into the Seerat –ul-Nabi Conference at Jama Masjid near Tawi Pul in which a large number of members of Muslim community participated.
The Muslim Ulemas (scholars ) drawn from different parts of country and the State gave religious discourses on the occasion and highlighted the teachings of Prophet Mohammed and Islam.
The scholars who gave the religious discourses included Mufti Qamar –ul- Zaman Mishabi from Patna, Bihar, Moulana Shakeel Ahmed Menai from Lucknow, UP, Mufti Mohammed Rafeeq from Poonch, Moulana Mohammed Younus form Jindrah, Jammu, Moulana Hafiz Abdul Rashid from Bhalessa Doda and Moulana Mazhar Hussian Shah from Surankote, Poonch.
The scholars in their lectures said Islam stands for peace and brotherhood. They while highlighting the teachings of Islam stressed on maintenance of peace, brotherhood and harmony among all irrespective of caste, creed, religion, region and colour. They said this can be only possible when Muslims follow the teachings and life style of Prophet Mohammad.
During the conference special prayers were held for global peace especially for the restoration of peace in this State. A huge procession was also taken out by members of Muslim community from Ambphalla and Janipur on the occasion of Eid Milad –ul-Nabi.
A large number of people participated in it.
In connection with Eid Milad a grand procession was taken pout in Rajouri from Bus Stand Rajouri to Jama Masjid Eidgah where a religious congregation was held and Islamic scholars highlighted the significance of the day in Islam.
The participants during the function also expressed their resentment against the administration for its failure in making proper arrangements for the celebration of the Eid Milad-ul-Nabi and alleged that there was no power supply in the town since yesterday while water supply also remained disrupted in the town.
They accused the administration for its total failure in holding advance meeting a week ahead as per precedence to discuss the arrangements for the day. Besides, no official from administration was present during the congregation and this has happened for the first time in the town, the people added.
They said the press note issued by the administration earlier that all arrangements were made for the religious function was totally misleading and baseless as there were no arrangements from administration in this regard.
Reports coming from Bhadaerwah said that Eid Milad-ul-Nabi was celebrated with full religious fervour and gaiety in the town and other parts of erstwhile Doda district.
On the auspicious occasion of Milad-ul-Nabi, several programmes including recitation of Quraan, Dars –e-Quran and Naat Khawani were held throughout the erstwhile Doda district.
The people gathered in their respective mosques to participate in the congregation and processions. In Bhaderwah main function was held in historical Jama Masjid while in Kishtwar the Milad-ul-Nabi was celebrated in Jamia Masjid where a large number of people participated.
Similar programmes were held at Sartingal, Ramban, Batote, Gool, Sangaldaan, Gandoh, Doda, Assar, Bhalla, Batote , Banihal and other parts of erstwhile Doda district.
Eid Milad-ul-Nabi was also celebrated with full enthusiasm and religious charm at Poonch and large number of Muslims participated in the celebrations.
Thousands of Muslims chanting pro Islamic slogans participated in religious processions which were taken out on the occasion in different parts of Poonch district.
A major procession was taken out from Mendhar town and its adjoining areas in which a large number of people participated. Similar processions were taken out in Mandi and Surankote and religious preachers addressed these gatherings throwing light on teachings of Prophet Mohammad and teachings of Islam.
