JAMMU, Dec 1: Mohammad Amir, a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant from Karachi, Pakistan, who was captured alive by the Army at Magam, Handwara in Kupwara district on November 24, has further disclosed during his interrogation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that he was part of 18 militants trained for causing disturbances in the Kashmir valley at Manshera militant training camp of Pakistan by LeT handler Abu Saad (code name).

In his confessional statement before the NIA, which had taken custody of Mohammad Amir son of Mohammad Riaz, a resident of Baldia town in port city of Karachi, the Lashkar militant has disclosed that his father was Head Constable with Karachi police and had also served at Mochko police station in Baldia town, before getting paralyzed.
Mohammad Amir disclosed that he was running a shop of scrap near his house at Baldia town of Karachi when a person by the name of Abu Abaad (likely to be code name of top LeT militant) met him and promised to pay Rs 4000 per month if he worked with them.
“As my shop was running into losses, I agreed. Abu Abaad Bhai took me to a Moulvi, who gave me some papers. Later, I was taken to Garhi Habibullah, about 12 kilometers away in a vehicle, where a small structure had been raised inside the forest area,’’ Amir disclosed and reportedly told his interrogators that he later realized that it was Manshera militant training camp of Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit.
He said a total of 18 militants were trained for 15 days to one month in the camp. He added that the militants were imparted training in handling of AK-47 rifles etc. However, he said, he also worked as domestic help at the training camp by serving food to the militants.
A dropout after Middle class and a student of Moon Light Secondary School of Baldia, Karachi, Mohammad Amir said he had infiltrated into the Indian territory along with a group of militants on the directions of the LeT commanders.
Sources said the disclosures made by Mohammad Amir indicated how the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit was exploiting innocent and unemployed youths of Pakistan and pushing them into the militancy by promising cash every month but later paying nothing to them.
As reported by the Excelsior, the LeT had been planning to carry out series of terror attacks on vital installations across Jammu and Kashmir for which it had prepared “special fidayeen squads’’, who were camping in Pakistan and PoK for infiltration into the State.
“The LeT was planning terror strikes not only in the Kashmir valley but also in Jammu region,” sources said quoting disclosures made by Mohammad Amir, who was part of a group of four militants infiltrating into the Kashmir valley from LoC in Handwara area of Kupwara district on November 24. After three terrorists of the group were eliminated by the troops, he was later captured alive and subjected to questioning.
As per preliminary reports, sources said, the LeT outfit has kept 80 to 90 dreaded terrorists ready in Pakistan and PoK, all of whom were Pakistanis, for infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir this winter to compensate for heavy killings of their cadre this year by Army, CRPF, Police and other security agencies.
“The LeT has trained the militants for trekking through snow clad mountains to facilitate their infiltration into the Kashmir valley during winter,’’ sources said but added that the troops were fully prepared to foil any kind of intrusion bids by the militants during the winter.
Sources said some documents and other items recovered from slain and arrested militants were being de-coded to get more clues about activities of the LeT outfit in the Kashmir valley as well as in Pakistan and PoK.
A Delhi court had recently given 10 day custody of Mohammad Amin Awan alias Abu Hamaaz to the National Investigation Agency.
