JAMMU, Dec 2: A two-day Gojri literary and cultural meet is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Language (JKAACL) in KL Saigal Hall here.
A large gathering including prominent Gojri writers, poets, artists besides tribal dignitaries drawn from different areas of the State participated in this event. Veteran Gojri writer Choudhary Amin Qammar presided over the function while Dr Aziz Hajini Secretary, Academy, Dr Javaid Rahi chief editor JKAACL, Dr Rashid Choudhary, Ch Jammat Ali were in the presidium.
Dr Aziz in his address stated that Gojri is one of the richest languages of the State in terms of its folk-lore and literature. He stressed upon the tribal writers fraternity of state to work jointly for recognition of Gojri language including its inclusion in school curriculum. He said that Gojri section of academy has done remarkable progress in documentation and propagation of Gojri literature during last few years.
Dr Rahi stated that Gojri is fastest growing language of the State with regard to its written literature. He said the two- day meet in Gojri language was designed and aimed to promote this tribal language and its culture. He added that this cultural meet will help us in our endeavor to promote the Gojri culture.
Veteran Gujjar leader Ch Amin Qammar praised academy for it vibrancy and efficiency. He said that the writer and artists community have a key role in construction of identities.
Dr Rashid Choudhary impressed upon the intellectuals of tribal language to guide the down trodden community through their writings. He appreciated academy for holding this purposeful event in remote area.
After inaugural session five research papers on different aspects of Gujjar history, culture language, folklore were presented by eminent scholars.
A cultural programme was also organized. Dr Shah Nawaz Khatana, Editor- cum Cultural Officer, Gojri conducted the proceedings while Mehmood Riaz Chouhan, Research Assistant Gojri presented vote of thanks.
