JKAACL preserve, promotes rich cultural ethos: Chib

JAMMU, Nov 17: In connection with celebration of Diwali festival, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a composite Mushaira in which the poets of different languages recited their poems mostly based on Diwali festival.
Minister for Medical Education and Sports, R S Chib was the chief guest on the occasion while as President Dogri Sanstha, Jammu and renowned litterateur of Dogri Language Dr. Lalit Magotra presided over the function.
Secretary, Culture Academy, Khalid Bashir, Puran Chand Badgotra, a renowned poet of Dogri language, besides a galaxy of poets, writers and intellectuals was present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chib appreciated the role of the academy for organizing random literary as well as Art and Culture programmes. He said that the Academy of Art, Culture and Language has significant position which preserve and promote art, culture and languages of the State. He said the State is known for its composite culture where all festivals are celebrated with gaiety and fervor.
The Minister called for organizing more such programmes so that younger generation gets acquainted with their rich cultural ethos.
Appreciating the initiatives of academy for bring poets together to share their poetic works, the Minister said that need of the hour is to hold similar functions at district level also. He said holding of composite Mushaira would go a long way in promoting the literary as well as cultural activities in the State.
Dr. Magotra while speaking on the occasion dwelt on the activities taken by Dogri Sanstha for promotion of Dogri language. He appreciated for the assistance being provided to them by the Cultural Academy for organizing such literary and cultural functions.
Those, who recited their poems, were Vidya Rattan Aasi, O.P. Shakir, Dr. Nirmal Vinod, Krishan Kumar, Dr. Rattan Lal Shant, Dr. Aruna Sharma, Prem Nath Shad, Smt Santosh Nadan, Bishan Singh Dardi, Daya Ram Daya, Puran Chand Badgotra, Surinder Sagar, Dr. Sanber, Rajpal Singh Mastana, Amar Singh Kooda, Bachan Singh Bharti and Swami Anter Neerav.
Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy, Jammu, Savita Bakashi in her welcome address highlighted the future activities of the academy and sought co-operation of the participants to make their programmes a success.
The Mushaira would be organized on November 21 in connection with Parkash Divas at 11 am and the Hussani Mushiara on 23rd at 3:30 p.m in the K L Sehgal Hall of the JKAACL.
Vote of thanks was presented by Chief Editor, Neeru Sharma, while Research Assistant of the Academy, Reeta Rani conducted the proceedings of the programme.
