RAMNAGAR, Dec 8: Former minister and NPP chairman Harsh Dev Singh today said that  with only one candidate out of 28 posts of State cadre Junior Assistants in the general category select list having fallen in the kitty of Jammu region, as against 27 for Kashmir valley, the incumbent Govt had administered the most obnoxious doze of discrimination to Jammu youth besides hurting their self respect and honour.
Addressing public meetings in Ramnagar constituency today, Singh said never before in the history of State had the educated youth of Jammu been so shabbily treated as in the present dispensation wherein BJP with its tally of 25 MLAs was an equal partner in the governance.
Reminding the gatherings of the tall promises made by the BJP leadership during elections, Singh said that the party which promised moon to the people during elections had eventually pushed them into the abyss. He said that the lofty slogans of development, accountability, transparency, corruption free system and curbing price rise had proved to be hyperboles. He said that educated youth who had supported the saffron party on the strength of its captivating slogans was the most demoralized lot.
He said that retrenchments had become a country wide phenomenon during the last few years with no apparent policy having been put into practice to absorb the teeming millions of unemployed educated youth whose number was fast swelling each year. He said that Jammu youth in particular was the most neglected lot and having been contemptuously disregarded by the State recruitment agencies was paying the price for the cowardice of its mandated leaders.
Not only its surrender over the issue of employment but the BJP leadership had failed to even initiate any action in respect of any of its election time promises to the utter chagrin and disgust of its electorates. He said that prior to elections the BJP had given the slogan of abrogation of Art 370 and Art 35A claiming that it alone could repeal the constitutional provisions which posed hindrance in the complete integration of J&K with India. But the same BJP after assuming power not only abandoned its crore philosophy but its own Govt in state filed an affidavit in Supreme Court describing Art 35A as an established feature of the Constitution.
