Malhotra takes stock of people’s problems

Jammu, Nov 18: Former general secretary, Indian Youth Congress and senior Congress leader, Vikram Malhotra had an extensive tour of Ward No. 7, Christian Colony and Ward No. 19, Rajiv Nagar where he laid foundation of various development works and listened to the problems of local people.
Vikram Malhotra visited Gandu Di Showni Mohalla near Eidgah, adjoining Christian Colony, where he kick started work on laying of drinking water pipes, construction of steps, drains and protection wall of Government Hari Singh Higher Secondary School which would be completed with financial assistance of Rs. 2.80 lakh to be provided by Chairman Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
He also listened to the problems of inhabitants of the area, primarily related to basic amenities and assured them to take up the same with the concerned authorities of Custodian Department, Revenue Department, Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Speaking to a select group of people on the occasion, the Congress leader said that problem of basic amenities can be solved and taken up under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme titled “Basic Services for Urban Poor” (BSUP), which is being executed by the Jammu Municipal Corporation.
During his visit to Rajiv Nagar, people highlighted a number of long pending demands including regularization of Rajiv Nagar Colony, construction of compound wall of Muslim grave yard etc.
In his remarks, the Congress leader assured the gathering that the demands raised by them were already consideration and in this regard he has already written a letter to the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Jammu, Sanjeev Verma to prepare an estimate so that required financial assistance could be provided by Amrit Malhotra, Chairman, Legislative Council through his CDF.
