JAMMU, Nov 18: Natrang staged ‘Shuruaat Se Pehle” a new Hindi play written by Pratap Sehgal in its Weekly Theatre Series at Natrang Studio Theatre, Kachi Chawni here today. The play has been directed by Anil Tickoo.
The play, in a very thoughtful manner, unveiled before the audience that how the youth (who is future of the country) is misdirected, how all their energies and zest prove disastrous if not properly monitored and channelized. Though it showcased the story of a few boys from poor families, but relates to a larger number of young boys who lose their focus at very formative years and get entangled in wrong doings, this phenomenon is much contagious as those who don’t want to march towards the bad deeds also get affected by those who chose it as their way and the result is same for the both.
‘Nindi’ the lead character of the play is like leader to his friends ‘Bhalu’ and ‘Bhashi’ who though loathe him for his wrong doings but can’t do without him. They have made it a habit to bunk the classes and gather at a place which they call ‘Adda’. There they do gambling and make plans to earn quick money as they are tired of their poverty and earning money from the right path appears a distant and false dream to them.
Once while gambling, their ‘Adda’ was raided by the police, they could run but the false pride of ‘Nindi’ stops him from running and he decides to face them instead and teach them a lesson. This results into a fierce scuffle between the police men and boys, even after receiving severe beating, ‘Nindi’ is still not ready to bow down and get caught so he jumps from a high building and ends his life. In a very impressive way the play directs towards the problem of brain drain in youth and the immense need to get them to the path of progress rather than self destruction.
Rohit Verma as ‘Nindi’, Uplaksh Singh as ‘Bhalu’, Baljeet Singh as ‘Bhashi’ all young artists of Natrang put the energy for their respective roles. Music was executed by Mohit Sharma. Sumeet Sharma coordinated the show and Sajra Qadir did the presentations.
