KATHUA, Dec 12: In a major crackdown against drug peddlers Kathua Police today seized four kilograms of charas, 105 grams of heroin and 1960 bottles of Max Coff-T, in three different successful operations.

A police team led by SI Verinder Singh, Incharge PP Industrial Estate Kathua during patrolling spotted one lady in Sawan Chak area who tried to escape after seeing the police. The lady was intercepted by lady police officials and she recovered four kilograms of charas from her possession. A case FIR No 372/2017 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kathua against her.
Another team of Police Station Kathua led by Inspector Anil Sharma, SHO PS Kathua along with SI Maninder Singh of PS Kathua during patrolling intercepted one person who was moving suspiciously near Radio Station Kathua. After search police recovered 105 grams of heroin from his possession. The accused is identified as Mohammad Ashraf, son of Abdul Hamid resident of  Achin Pulwama Kashmir. A case FIR No. 373/2017 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kathua. Both the accused disclosed that the seized narcotics was supposed to be sold in Kathua town and its adjoining areas. Both these actions were conducted under the direct supervision of Shamsher Singh, Dy.SP Headquarters Kathua.
Meanwhile reacting swiftly on a specific information, a team of Police Station Lakhanpur with the assistance of Excise Department, Lakhanpur laid a naka at new Ravi bridge, Lakhanpur. The naka team was led by Inspector Kulbir Chowdhary under the direct supervision of Parul Bhardwaj, DySP DAR DPL Kathua. It intercepted a truck bearing registration no.HR55M-6756 and recovered 1960 bottles (100 ml each) of Max Coff-T(Codeine Phosphate). Police arrested the driver namely Abdul Rashid Mir son of Ali Mohd Mir resident of  Malangpura Pulwama along with his two associates namely Owais Bashir son of  Bashir Ahmed Bhat resident of Pulwama and Amir Ahmed Wani son of Ali Mohd Wani resident of Pattan Baramulla. A case FIR No. 118/23017 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered at PS Lakhanpur.
All the three seizures were made under the overall supervision of Sanjay Parihar , Additional SP Kathua. The drive against the drug menace in Kathua district was launched under the supervision of SSP, Kathua Suleman Choudhary.
