JAMMU, Dec 15: A delegation of Migrant Contractors Association led by senior Congress leader and chairman Migrant Cell of the Party, Hira Lal Pandita called on Revenue , Relief and Rehabilitation Minister, Abduul Rehman Veeri here, today and discussed the problems being faced by migrant contractors with him.
Sundri Lal Koul and other members of the organization were also part of the delegation which showed concern over denial of works to the migrant contractors in the Relief Organisation and demanded that the small works up to a certain amount be allotted to migrant contractors on the tender basis.
They said that a decision was taken by the Relief Organization to rehabilitate the migrant contractors by providing them small contracts in relief organization and this practice continued to many years but for last some time the authorities called e-tendering even for works of small amount which the influential and resourceful contractors get by quoting the lower rates due to which the migrant contractors have been pushed to wall.
The delegation, while seeking the intervention of the Minister urged him to issue the directives to Relief organization to allot the works on the basis of tendering to a certain amount to migrant contractors and call the E -tendering for works involving big amount.
