JAMMU, Dec 15: Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST Jammu, RS Pura, celebrated the Agriculture Education Day in presence of Dr MMS Zama, Dean of the Faculty.
During the function, 12 standard students of medical stream from the schools of RS Pura area visited various divisions of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry and they were educated about the specialized activities of agriculture profession especially in the field of Veterinary Sciences.
The major attractions of their visit were the Veterinary Museum, Clinical Complex, Library, Model Dairy Farm, Smart Classroom and Examination Halls. Students were motivated to join Agriculture Sciences and allied fields specially Veterinary Sciences.
Dr MMS Zama, Dean of the Faculty interacted with the students and accompanying teachers and highlighted the scope and importance of agriculture and veterinary professions. Special emphasis was given on the scope of entrepreneurship in agriculture and allied sectors along with the role of livestock in national economy. The Dean also deliberated upon the topic “One Health Programme & its Importance” for combating various zoonotic diseases in developing nations.
Dr Shalini Suri, Prof and Head, Division of Veterinary Anatomy, Dr Harsh K Sharma, Assistant Prof, Division of Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology and Dr Ankur Sharma, Assistant Prof, Division of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, all members of the Organizing Committee coordinated the entire programme.
