Army, Navy make spl visit of J&K Children to warships

JAMMU, Nov 19: A group of 23 school children hailing from Dori and Dager villages of  Akhnoor Tehsil of J&K who had proceeded on a week-long educational-cum-motivational tour to  Kolkata on 16 November 15 reached Kolkata.
The children had set off  for Kolkata on the tour being conducted as part of the Army’s ongoing ‘Op Sadbhavna’, aimed at giving an opportunity to discover and experience the other parts of our nation.
On reaching Kolkata on saturday, children had the excitement in their minds, where bigger surprise awaited them. The Indian Navy that has three warships presently berthed in Kidderpore  Docks since Friday, as a part of the `Navy Week’ celebrations, facilitated the visit of these J&K children to the Indian Navy warships.
“The visit to the Indian Navy Warship was an opportunity of a life-time, an experience beyond their dreams, and left an everlasting impression on the minds of the young children” said Major Rajesh Dogra, the officer accompanying the children on the tour. The children who are in Kolkata till 23 November, 23 will also visit various places of historical interest  and major landmarks, in and around the city,  besides getting an opportunity to interact with senior army officials, and families and children from the civil society.
