JAMMU, Dec 17: Bishnah police arrested a couple along with large quantity of illicit liquor and lahan.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bishnah Police Station conducted raid in village Majua and arrested a couple along with 40 litres of illicit liquor, 200 litres lahan and utensils used for extraction of liquor.
The arrested persons have been identified as Puran Chand, son of Molu Ram of village Majua and his wife Mantu.
After seeing police sops, the people, who were purchasing the illicit liquor escaped from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
A case under FIR Number 270/17 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered against the accused persons at Police Station Bishnah and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bishnah Inspector Rajesh Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Choudhary and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
