PEEU highlights demands

JAMMU, Nov 20:  A meeting of all unit presidents of Provincial Electrical Employees Union (PEEU) was held here today to discuss the future strategy for its struggle.
The meeting was chaired by P C Sharma, provincial president of the Union and all unit President’s of Poonch, Mendhar, Rajouri, Ramban, Batote, Doda, Jammu, Kathua, Basohli, Billawar, Hiranagar and other areas participated in it. The meeting while highlighting the demands urged the Government to take immediate steps for their redressal.
It demanded regularization of daily wagers by way of creation of new posts, retrospective effect to the already regularized daily wagers from the date they were due for regularization in terms of SRO 64 of 1994, releasing technical grade to all ITI trained persons, amendment in service recruitment rules of PDD, creation of executive cadre posts to promote all ITI & non ITI Tech I, II, III, IV who had served for more than 15 years’ and have been denied the promotions and opening of new EM&RE Div. at Basohli to reduce the burden of existing Div. Kathua.
Addressing the meeting. P.C Sharma said that Government has failed to fulfill its promises made with the employees. The PDD employees are performing their duties by risking their lives and they have been deprived of all incentives. Even daily wagers who have rendered more than 15 years of service are being exploited in respect of their regularization, he added. In an appeal to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, he sought his personnel intervene to provide justice to the PDD employees.
