4th bridge across River Tawi

Sir,
More than two decades back, I had conveyed the urgency of constructing the second bridge on the down stream of the existing bridge linking Satwari to Akhnoor road and Nagrota in an article through this newspaper. Politicians accorded priority to the construction of the bridge linking a particular locality to Rail Head ignoring the vital needs of the Jammu city. It  was also reminded to the planners that time is running out on options to dilute the intensity of traffic in the city.By the time the Government woke up to the need of constructing the fourth bridge across Tawi it had lost the opportunity to provide a vital link that could divert the traffic, including the heavy traffic bound for Akhnoor, Rajouri and Poonch, bye passing the city limits.  State Engineers are sending twrong signals that the bridge will ease the traffic concentration between Jewel  and Akhnoor road. Designating the Bhagwati Nagar Link road as an alternative is going to add to the woes of Traffic managers who are neither trained to handle the traffic nor committed.
The best way to ensure smooth flow of traffic from Jewel to Akhnoor road was by widening the stretch but that is impossible because it has establishments on both sides. The only alternative is to provide a super passage that will link Jewel to Akhnoor road bye passing the Canal head. Those in authority, particularly from Jammu Division that use Sirens to carve out a passage for their motorcade should not ignore the common man who has given them the right to rule. With uncontrolled urbanization time is running out for the planners who may still have the common man in mind.
Yours etc….
