The ambitious mission of AMRUT got warm welcome from Jammuites. In Sarwal area the drains are now dry as the sludge and the other out flow is flowing through the gutters keeping the menace of septic tank at Bay. This has perhaps resulted into another threat which is not worth ignoring by the authorities i.e. the drains becoming dumping sites. The filth has potential to breed flies and mosquitoes. Such pests were never seen in this winter season but due to dirt and filth collection this has come up. The concerned authorities may please not ignore the potential threat in this progress. On one hand AMRUT has brought development and on the other such filth and pests have come up. What would the authorities weigh more for the society amongst these developments? In some locations of Jammu city the waste water flows in drains and the gutter collects only the sludge which has kept drains clean of the filth which flows away. Certainly the whole process needs introspection and immediate clearance of drains with implementation of stringent laws for drain misuse. Seldom clearance of drains may not suffice.
