JAMMU, Dec 25: Employees of NHM, RNTCP, NACO and other schemes, which are on pen down strike for last six days across the State, today extended their strike for another 72 hours.
Hundreds of employees of National Health Mission (NHM), J&K State AIDS Control Society (JKSACS) and Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP), demanding regularization of their services, assembled near Press Club Jammu and raised slogans against the false promises made by the Government for framing a job policy for the employees of these organizations.

The presidents of all the three organizations viz Rohit Seth (NHM), Nissar Ahmad Dar (JKAC) and Dr SS Samyal (RNTCP) informed the media that Government of J&K is not paying any heed to their genuine demands and forcing them to take aggressive measures to project their demands, which will be not beneficial for anyone, especially the needy and poor patients.
Similarly, a protest was also organized at Srinagar by Joint Employees Coordination Committee of NHM, RNTCP, NACO and other schemes. Business and other activities came to halt for some time when hundreds of NHM and other employees demanding regularization of their service protested at historic Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the city.
The employees, on strike for the past about one week at Partap Park, near here, marched in a procession to Lal Chowk in support of their demands. Our main demand is regularization of service, the employees said while raising slogans and carrying placards which reads ” formulate a job policy, we have given our results, give us our legitimate rights, our colleagues have sacrificed their lives, have mercy, justice delayed is justice denied”.
The employees staged protest at Ganta Ghar, disrupting traffic and other activities, in the entire area, including Lal Chowk. They threatened to intensify their agitation, including mass resignation, in support of their demands.
Meanwhile, NHM employees also staged protest at Leh on 6th consecutive day and thereafter submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Leh, who is also the Chairman, District Health Society Leh, urging him to take up the matter of their regularization with the Government.
Dr Iqbal Ahmed said that employees nearly 400 in numbers were observing strike since December 20 and works in the health department had suffered following the strike. He added that they will continue their strike till their main demand of regularization is fulfilled.
