JAMMU, Nov 21: The activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement held a demonstration at New Plots today against the traffic chaos in the Winter Capital in general and Jammu West Assembly segment in particular.
The demonstration was led by president of the Movement Sunil Dimple. Besides the local residents, traders and senior citizens also participated in the protest. Raising slogans against the Government the protestors demanded immediate steps be taken for widening of city roads and construction of three flyovers in the city as demanded by the Movement.
Addressing the protestors Sunil Dimple accused the Coalition Government of ignoring Jammu in developmental field and the claims made by it on construction of three flyovers in the city have proved totally hollow.
He said the Government should take immediate steps in constructing the fly overs from Rehari Chungi to Janipur, Jewel to Bohri Chungi via Canal road and Bikram Chowk to Satwari.
He said there is no headway on construction of flyover from Bikram Chowk to Satwari and the project is yet in infancy. He demanded that work on all three flyover should be started together and alleged that the funds for construction of fly over from Bikram Chowk to Satwari have not been released by Asian Development Bank (ADB) till date.
He said the Government should come up with a time bound formula for construction of flyovers in the city and widening of other roads so that the people will heave a sigh of relief and get rid of increasing traffic jams especially during peak hours.
He also demanded metro rail service and construction of circular road in Jammu as this will help in solving traffic problems in Jammu.
