Bhim demands roll back of classification of seats for LC polls

SRINAGAR, Nov 21: National Panthers Party (NPP) patron, Prof. Bhim Singh today questioned the classification of seats for the Panchayat representatives in the Legislative Council and said the whole process is aimed at rehabilitating the politicians of National Conference and Congress in the Upper House of the legislature.
“The State Government has created confusion by classifying the two seats in the Kashmir division as K1 and K2 and J1 and J2 for Jammu division. Two seats each for the Kashmir and Jammu divisions can be filled from the candidates who take first two positions among the candidates fighting the Legislative Council Elections,” said Prof. Singh while addressing a press conference here this morning.
Prof. Singh accused the State Government of playing fraud with the Panchs and Sarpanchs and said that Panchayat representatives continue to remain disempowered in the State. He said Congress and National Conference are using the Panchs and Sarpanchs for their own political means without caring for their safety as well as security.
“The non-seriousness of the State Government in empowering the Panchayats can be gauged from the fact that the elections for Block Development Councils were deferred. The non-constitution of BDCs is a big setback to the Panchayati Raj system but still then it doesn’t make any difference for the Government. They are just misleading people by issuing hoax statements and doing nothing for the empowerment of the Panchayats,” said Prof. Singh.
Prof. Singh said that if elected the National Panthers party candidates would construct Panchayat Ghars across the State within one year along with a library and a dispensary. He said adult education centres would also be created in the Panchayats .
“We will come out with a manifesto with regard to the Legislative Council elections very soon but we have already decided on some of the key points that would be covered in the manifesto. I am confident that NPP candidates would win both the seats from the Jammu division,” said Prof. Singh.
