CHENNAI: Ending years of speculation, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday announced that he would formally enter into active politics and float a political party as the present set of political outfits were “looting their own people”.
Making the announcement here, he said floating a new party would not be easy. “It is like taking a pearl from the deep sea.” “Under the guise of democracy, political parties are looting their own people,” Rajinikanth said and maintained that his party would try practice “spiritual politics”. Rajinikanth said he was not getting into politics for power and rather his decision was only “compulsion of time”.
Even as the age of 45 he was not interested in political power, the celebrated film star said. (AGENCIES)
