JAMMU, Jan 1: Minister for Law and Justice Abdul Haq today sanctioned an amount of Rs 2.47 crore for construction of additional accommodation for Advocate General’s office at Jammu wing of High Court.
Responding to the grievances highlighted by several law officers during a review meeting yesterday, Minister personally visited the High Court to take stock of the accommodation facilities being provided to the Government advocates, Law Officers and other officials of the AG’s office.
He was accompanied by Advocate General Jehangir Iqbal Ganai, Secretary Law, Abdul Majid Bhat, Additional Secretary Law Achal Sethi, Director Litigations, Additional Advocate Generals and senior officers of the department.
The Minister visited the chambers of various Additional Advocate Generals, Governm-ent Advocates, Law Officers, library and record rooms and interacted with the ministerial staff who informed the Minister about various issues.
Law Minister said he has already sanctioned a project for construction of additional accommodation at an estimated cost of Rs 2.47 crore and directed the officials to start work on the construction of additional accommodation within this week and also directed to release an amount of Rs 1 crore immediately.
The Minister later held a meeting with ministerial staff of the Advocate General’s office and Directorate of Litigations and reviewed their working. Minister said the Government will always work for the benefit of its employees.
Law Minister said while the Government is providing facilities to the employees, simultaneously it expects its employees to work diligently to produce positive results. He said Government will make every employee accountable and will regularly monitor the performance of its staff and those not willing to work or show poor performance, will be shown doors.
Later, the Minister also interacted with the members of Bar Association Jammu led by Bar President BS Salathia. The members discussed various issues of public interest and also regarding the improvement of facilities being provided to them by the Government. The Minister assured every possible support to the bar for the welfare of the State.
