JAMMU, Jan 2: J&K Bhoomi Human Welfare Society Jammu staged a historical play ‘Lal Ded’ in Theatre Festival 2017-18, organized by J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages at Abhinav Theatre, here.
The play of Param Yogini Lalleshwari ‘Lal Ded’ based on the life of 14th Century Mystic Poetess of Kashmir revered locally as ‘Lal Ded’ was highly aesthetic presentation staged with some superb choreography, artistry and versatility.
The play was conceived by Prof Amar Malmohi, and written and directed by JK Koul (Bezan).
‘Lal Ded’ before six centuries taught the essence of mysticism and expounded the secret doctrines and its discipline to the common men and opened the way for the people to reach out to the Lord while busy in daily chores.
JK Koul (Bezan) shaped the idea of this historical play by his strenuous efforts brought it to fruition, seemingly by an inspiration. He has the desire to expose the unique contribution of Kashmiri Shavism to the world.
Renowned Kashmiri artists namely Jai Krishan Koul Bezaan acted as Sed Mol, Asha Zaroo as mother of Lal Ded, Bharti Zaroo as mother in law (Lal Ded), Sumeeta Bhat as Lal Ded, Jatinder Jotshi as Chander Bhat, Arvin Tikoo as Lal’s husband, Vijay Raina as Nich Bhat and other artists included Vishal Raina, Surinder Raina, Mohit Pandita, Rahul Koul, Rohit Bhat, Ayush Bhat, Abik Hangloo and Susheel Bhat.
Ramesh Koul and Jatinder Jotshi were the Assistant Directors, while Rajesh Khar gave the music, Shaziya Bashir and Pallavi (Singers), Arshad Nawshari (Make up), Kamal Ganjoo (Photography), Suraj Ganjoo (Lights), Vishal Raina (Sound).
Vijay Raina, Chairman J&K Bhoomi Human Welfare Society Jammu was the organizer.
Prominent among others, who witnessed the play were Relief Commissioner, ML Raina, Kiran Wattal, Swami Kumar, Prof Ved Kumari Gai and ML Dogra, Chairman Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Sansthan.
