NEW DELHI: Congratulating the Captain of India’s Women Cricket Team Mithali Raj for being a spectacular player and mentor for her team, Superstar Shah Rukh Khan says he wants to see her as the Coach of Men’s Cricket Team one day.
In one of the episodes of ‘ TED Talks India Nayi Soch’, his new show on Star plus, where Mithali Raj was a guest, Shah Rukh shared his special interest in the women’s matches because he feels that women have empowered him and it is necessary to be by their side when they break the stereotype.
“I stay up all night whenever there’s a women team playing a match,”the superstar said on the show, to be aired on January 7 at 7 pm on Star Plus. Watching her lead the team to success and fame, an impressed SRK quipped to Mithali, “I want to see you as the Coach of Men’s Cricket Team one day.”
She replied with a smile, “I always want to give my best.” Sharing her experiences as a Captain and Player of a Women’s team and the country’s slow-paced growth of adequate infrastructure, Mithali Raj said, “More facilities will lead to more horizons opening up for women cricket team.” Seconding this thought, SRK pondered, “Only a sportsperson deals with what you truly call a pressurizing situation.
” Interacting with host SRK , Mithali shared about winning and losing in a match. “It is easy said than done. When you are on the field, and everyone is looking up to you and the entire team for bringing back the winning trophy, it is not just about the game.
So it is necessary for us to stay focussed and while we all have our own ways to ensure we give our best on the field, I use reading books as my distraction from pressure.
It does help me to keep calm and encourage a good performance,”she said. Playing his usual witty self, he quickly brought a light-hearted moment to the stage by bowling in front of the Captain, asking if he did well. ‘
TED Talks India Nayi Soch’ will witness Shah Rukh introducing and interacting with achievers from several walks of life on the show in every episode. (AGENCIES)
