JAMMU, Jan 5: A delegation of All J&K Plus Two PSC Lecturers’ Association called on Minister for Education Altaf Bukhari and highlighted the genuine demands of the cadre.
The direct recruited lecturers said that there was stagnation in the department, which causes discomfort to the entire community as lecturer is bound to work on the same pay scale for more than twenty years and hence their long pending demand of running grade pattern must be implemented in favour of plus two lecturers. They appealed Education Minister to intervene in this regard as the case file was lying in the Finance Department for further process.
Taking cognizance of the demands of lecturers’ community, Altaf Bukhari accompanied the delegation and took up the matter with Finance Minister and discussed the issue at length. The Education Minister pleaded the case before Finance Minister stating that lecturers are the worst sufferers and being the important component of the department, their issues and problems need to be addressed on priority basis. The Finance Minister passed instructions to process the issue and assured favorable consideration, claimed a press statement by the Association.
The other demands, highlighted before the minister, included restoration of 40 percent quota for higher education, placement of lecturers, change of pay band two to three and implementation of Government order743 ( elimination of notional benefit).
The delegation appealed Education Minister that promotion avenues should be explored and there should be no induction from the other departments. They said that posts of Joint Directors should be filled by the officers of parental department i.e. Education Department.
Those who were part of the delegation, included Mansoor Ahmed Khan, Riyaz Ahmed Sohil, Farooq Ahmed Bhat, Dr Ajay Singh, Pershotum, Irfan Ahmed, Brij Nandan, Swarm Singh, Arvinder Kour and others.
