JAMMU, Jan 5: Vice Chairperson, Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation Limited, Balbir Ram Rattan today said that the main objective and goal of skill development courses is to create opportunities, space and scope for the development of talents of the youth of this country, particularly of those who have hidden talents but have not been able to utilize it for one or the other reasons.
Balbir made these observations while interacting with R.K.Chahotra, patron, Study Villa, a NGO here today which imparts training in such courses for the benefit of unemployed males and females.
He said the idea is also to develop more of those sectors which have already been put under skill development for the last few years.
He said that efforts of the Government at the Centre and in the State are also to identify new sectors for skill development in addition to what is being done at present in the State. He further said that there are many families and individuals who have a lot of talent and skills in the State of J&K but they have not been able to hone it in right direction due to lack of opportunities. However, now that the Government of India has started these skill development courses, there is need to create more and more awareness at all levels so that deserving get benefits of the same. Balbir said that efforts are being made to train the underprivileged, unemployed, unskilled, semi skilled in a State of art technology and making them skilled and employable for a dignified living.
