Good governance

Sir,
This has reference to a well researched article by ‘ K B Jandial ‘ on the above subject Dt 3rd Jan 2018. It is a sweet coincidence that on the same day another article appeared in this paper just supporting and supplementing what the author in the first case wanted to convey. While the first author very elaborately enunciated the meaning and contours of good governance on a larger scale the second one exposed the governance deficit within the boundaries of J and K state. Some one has aptly said that in governance if you don’t want to do anything just constitute committees and meet , eat and cheat at public expense.
In this age of fast communication channels information flows like avalanche. Hardly a day passes when deficit governance does not get reported and people wonder with awe and drooping jaw – where the governance has gone? A responsible government needs to rise to the occasion and respond with responsibility by taking tangible steps in correcting the perception if mal- governance is noticed or highlighted in print and electronic media. Hiding like an ostrich will do no good to the powers that be . They will have to cut sorry figurers and repent on their procrastination later on . Governance demands result oriented time bound action for public good before it is too late to lament since time and tide wait for none.
Yours etc….
A Misri
