A free medical health check-up camp was organized to reach out to the requirements of health issues of the much needy and most abandoned people of the society camped at Old Age Home, Ambphalla. As part of this activity, the doctors were pressed into the service to attend to the needs of these senior citizens in which free medical health check-up was carried out followed by the free distribution of medicines and relevant investigations.
During his interaction, Dr. Sushil maintained that India, the world’s second most populous country, has experienced a dramatic demographic transition in the past 50 years, entailing almost a tripling of the population over the age of 60 years.
“This pattern is poised to continue. It is projected that the proportion of Indians aged 60 and older will rise from 7.5% in 2010 to 11.1% in 2025. An analysis of morbidity patterns by age clearly indicated that the elderly experience a greater burden of ailments compared to other age groups across genders and residential locations”.
