JAMMU, Jan 9: Speaker Legislative Assembly and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta visited Rajiv Gandhi Leprosy Hospital Gangyal and reviewed its functioning.
During the visit, the Speaker launched construction work for 100 bed hospital building which is being executed by JKPCC at an estimated cost of Rs 22 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder said that focused attention is being paid to augment the health care infrastructure in the area to ensure people do not have to travel long distances for proper medicare.
With regard to efforts undertaken to improve infra at the Leprosy Hospital Gangyal, he said that hospital has already been provided with amenities including air conditioner, dedicated transformer and gen set for power backup.
Speaker stressed that there is an urgent need to improve and upgrade infrastructure at all hospitals so as to lessen the patients load on central hospitals besides, ensuring good medicare to the people at their doorsteps.
During the visit, the Speaker was informed that there is a shortage of medical and para medical staff in the hospital.
He assured that the matter will be taken up with concerned authority for immediate action.
