MLC asks youth to become job providers instead of job seekers

JAMMU, Jan 14: MLC Girdhari Lal Raina today asked the youth to become job providers instead of job seekers by taking the advantage of  various new schemes in industrial, agriculture, horticulture and floriculture sectors.
The MLC was speaking at a programme organised at Sanjeevani Sharada Kendra Anand Nagar Bohri to demonstrate profitable cultivation of Gladiolus in even in the small portion of land available in front of our house or on roofs.
It is an effort to exhibit to the unemployed youth the varied opportunities available in horticulture and floriculture sector for budding entrepreneurs and those desirous of enhancing their family incomes, he added.
He also spoke about the need to explore alternate avenues for earning livelihoods in future. He said that jobs, particularly in the Government sector are very few and that too for a community like ours which continues to be in exile. Hence it is essential to look for alternatives. Entrepreneurship is one of the best ways to transform Job seekers into Job providers, he asserted.
A large number of young men and prominent citizens participated in the event.
Dr. Manoj Nazir, a well-known expert in the field and renowned plant breeder in his powerful and convincing presentation explained the scientific cultivation of Gladiolus that has potential of changing the economic condition of the cultivators.
He also demonstrated the way in which this cash crop can be grown in different climatic conditions also. He also explained the available market linkages to ensure proper and timely marketing of the spikes.
Cultivar Sarla a variety of Gladiolus developed by Dr. Manoj Nazir was also released on this occasion.
Later corms of Gladiolus were also planted in two different locations.
Dr. Nazir promised all the required expert advice from time to time to the growers.
