Army conducts First-Aid training for local youth

Excelsior Correspondent SURANKOTE, Nov 24: Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) conducted six-day First-Aid training for 20 local youths of Daraba near here. The aim of the training was to increase medical awareness among the people of backward areas and help them in adopting healthier life style and reduce morbidity rate. Apart of theoretical classes, practical training was also imparted, which included dressing of various types of wounds, first-aid to persons subjected to bites, stings, bruises, fracture, foreign object in the body, cardio pulmonary resuscitation, accidental bleeding and heart attack. The Commanding Officer of the Battalion, during his opening address said that the timely assistance, comprising of simple medical techniques, is most critical to the victims and is often life saving. Basic skills in providing the first aid is therefore a must in our modern and stressful life and should be learnt by all people, he added.
