Governor, CM pay tributes to Karbala martyrs

Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 24 : Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today paid tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and other martyrs of Karbala. In a message on Aashoor-e-Muharram, the Governor said that Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions sacrificed their lives for upholding the high values of truth, justice and righteousness. He added that their martyrdom reminds mankind of the high principles of human dignity and morality. The Governor prayed for peace, harmony and normalcy in the State. Paying rich homage to the martyrs of Karbala on the eve of Ashura Muharram, Chief Minister said that Imam Hussain (AS) symbolizes the firm faith in Almighty, high principals of righteousness, purity of thought and highest degree of sacrifice to uphold truth and human dignity. Omar said that Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions exhibited unparalleled courage and patience and made historic sacrifices at Karbala which would enlighten and guide the mankind forever. “Karbala teaches us the lesson of upholding the principals of righteousness under all circumstances and denying evil forces to make us succumb or bow before them”,he added. The Chief Minister prayed for the peace and well being of the State and its people on the occasion.
