JAMMU, Jan 18: Around 16 members took part in the Discussion on Demand of Grants for Animal, Sheep Husbandry & Fisheries, Ladakh Affairs, and Cooperatives Departments in Legislative Assembly and called for promotion of farming sector and revival of Cooperative Movement.
Initiating the Discussion, Altaf Ahmad Wani stressed on the need for increasing livestock production in the State. Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi called for organizing massive awareness camps to educate the people about various welfare schemes of the government to benefit maximum number of people.
Syed Farooq suggested for establishment of Veterinary Units at every constituency and demanded for separate funds for each unit. He also called for conducting elections of cooperative banks and of cooperative movement in the State.
Neelam Kumar Langeh urged the Government to bring in more improvement in the functioning of the working of the concerned departments. He demanded filling up of vacancies in Animal and Sheep Husbandry Departments.
Aijaz Ahmad Khan asked the Government to enhance the budget proposals for these sectors. He said state meets maximum poultry, mutton and milk demand through imports, which means there is huge scope for its growth.
Bashir Ahmad Dar called for tapping huge potential of animal, sheep and fisheries sectors to generate employment among educated unemployed youth.
Mubarak Gul demanded adequate funds for promotion of animal, sheep, fisheries and cooperatives sectors. He also called for strengthening Wool Board and tapping huge scope for milk products in the state by adopting latest techniques.
Raja Manzoor Ahmad called for creating mass awareness about the health facilities for livestock. He also demanded for Insurance Cover of livestock. Choudhry Sukhnadan Kumar underscored the need for improving the functioning of Cooperative Department, strengthening of cooperative societies, strengthening of Cooperative Banks of Anantnag, Baramullah and Jammu.
Nawang Rigzin Jora suggested that at least 10 percent of the budget allocation should be fixed in every sector for Ladakh division. He also urged the Government for improving in the functioning of Animal, Sheep, Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Departments.
Noor Mohammad Sheikh urged the Government to lay special focus on these sectors to meet deficit of 60 percent of mutton, eggs, being imported from outside States. Daleep Singh Parihar said there are presently 26 internal veterinary centres functional in his Constituency and asked the Government to fill the vacancies at these centres.
Mohammad Akbar Lone urged the Government for formulating comprehensive policy tap it. He demanded for setting up of five veterinary units in his Constituency to ensure better health care facilities for the livestock.
Asgar Ali Karbalie said that the Artificial Plant and Hatchery Pond in his Constituency is not properly functioning and urged the Government to look into the issue.
Abdul Rahim Rather demanded for up-gradation of Daksum Sheep Farm and setting up of Wood Industry in his constituency. Usman Abdul Majid demanded incentives to boost pasi-culture in Bandipora. He called for equitable distribution of incentives among the fishermen.
Ravinder Raina demanded compensation for the livestock died due to border shelling in his area.
