Members of various minority communities meet Balbir

JAMMU, Jan 21: To have information about the welfare schemes for the benefit of the members of the minority communities, a delegation of these people met Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation Limited, Vice Chairperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, at Dashmesh Nagar, Digiana,  near here today and discussed the procedure and formalities to avail the loan for establishing earning units.
Balbir Ram Rattan, while sharing the schemes of the Corporation, told them that there are six national level notified minorities which include Muslims, Sikhs, Jains, Christians, Parsi and Buddhists and the Corporation in the State too recognizes them as minorities to grant financial assistance in the form of loan to the unemployed males and females from their families. The Corporation also provides education loan to the meritorious students of minorities to study within country as well as abroad, he added. Rattan further informed them that the rate of interest on the loans sanctioned by the Corporation ranges from 6-8 per cent and the time period fixed for repaying the loaned money is four and half years.
“Any unemployed person from the said category can apply for the loan through his or her nearest district office of the Corporation”, Balbir said, adding that there is no need to run to the capital cities of Jammu or Srinagar.
The Vice Chairperson stressed upon them to educate the unemployed ones from their category about the welfare schemes of Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation Limited.
Prominent among those who called on the Vice Chairperson included S. Gurdyal Singh Bali, S. Harpal Singh Bali, S. Randhir Singh, Asad Mallick,  S. Gurcharan Singh, S.Baldev Singh, Nasir Lone, Wasim Ahmed Tantray, S.Paramjit Singh and others.
