JAMMU, Jan 22: Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, Tara Chand, today conducted extensive tour to various firing affected border villages and demanded plots at safe places and financial assistance for the border dwellers.
The border villages to which the former Deputy CM conducted tour include Hamirpur, Ainth, Garar, Magyal, Gigryal and various villages in Pargwal tehsil. He took stock of the situation and the damages occurred due to heavy shelling from across the border. He also met people who have been forced to migrate to safer places following heavy shelling.
While addressing the people, ex DyCM condemned Pakistan for targeting the civilian hamlet following which many innocent lives have been lost and scores other have sustained injuries. He said that the people were forced to rush to the safer places leaving behind their livestock and essentials for daily use.
He said that the previous regime has allotted plots to the border dwellers from Khour tehsil at safer places but many of them were unable to construct houses for them following short of finances. He urged upon the Government to provide financial assistance to those who have been allotted plots at safer places.
He stressed upon the present coalition to provide plot measuring 5 marlas to the border residents of Pargwal tehsil with financial assistance to construct at least two room set for them. He also demanded construction of community bunkers to protect human lives in case of emergencies.
Tara Chand said that it is very sad state of affairs that the injured livestock of the people are lying in the villages untreated. He urged the authorities to immediately rush a team of veterinary doctors to the area so that the speechless are treated.
The ex DyCM also demanded adequate compensation for the loss of lives and damages due to the shelling. Tara Chand assured the people every possible help on his part and from the Congress party.
