Commodities show downward trend; moong dal lone gainer

CHENNAI, Nov 24: Prices of moong dal moved up, while urad dal, gram dal, sugar, maida and sooji showed a downward trend during the week ended today in the wholesale foodgrains market here.
Prices of tur dal and wheat remained unchanged.
Moong dal opened the week higher by Rs 100 per quintal at Rs 8,000 and remained steady to close at the same rate.
Urad dal maintained its steady rate at its opening rate of Rs 5,700 and fell by Rs 200 per quintal on Friday to close the week at Rs 5,500.
Gram dal opened the week at Rs 5,700 less by Rs 100 per quintal from its closing rate of Rs 5,800 and further fell on friday to close at Rs 5,600.
Opening the week at Rs 3,450 sugar declined by Rs 50 per quintal from its closing rate of Rs 3,500 and remained at the same rate till this weekend.
Maida (90 kg) opened at Rs 2,200 less by Rs 100 per quintal from its closing rate of Rs 2,300 and closed the week at the same rate.
Sooji maintained its steady trend till Thursday when on Friday it fell by Rs 100 per quintal to close at Rs 2,300. (PTI)
