JAMMU, Jan 27: An impressive Shoba yatra was taken on the eve of Parkash Divas of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj here, today.
The Shoba Yatra started from Guru Ravi Dass Mandir, Kabir Colony, Talab Tillo which was flagged off by BJP State president and MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma along with MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta. It culminated at Guru Ravi Dass temple, Bahu Fort.
As the yatra proceeded, the devotees swelled in thousands to accompany it. They were chanting bhajans and dancing to the tune of drum beats in praise of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj —a great spiritual saint of India. Punjabi Bhangra was major attraction of Shoba yatra.
The Shoba yatra was taken under the guidance and supervision of Gurdeep Giri Ji Maharaj Pathankot Wale and it was organized by All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha through its general secretary, M. L. Banalia.
Hundreds of Jhankies from different sectors such as R. S. Pura, Bishnah, Bari Brahmana, Ramgarh Sector, Samba, Udhampur, Rajouri, Nowshera, Akhnoor, Bhalwal, Marh, and Nagrota Sector formed the part of the Shoba yatra and added further colour to it.
The Shoba yatra was organized with the active co-operation of Shri Guru Ravi Dass Satsang Society (J&K) under the convenorship of  Kesar Singh, Shri Guru Ravi Dass S. S. Trust Sikanderpur Jammu, All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch under the presidentship of Sham Lal Basson, All J&K SC/ST Retired Employees Association under the presidentship of Prof. G. L. Thapa and Dev Raj Atri, President Shri Guru Ravi Yuva Sangathan (J&K), Vijay Lochan ex-president All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha and Chairman NC SC Cell.
The Shoba Yatra proceeded via Talab Tillo, Guest House, Canal road, Guru Ravi Dass Temple, Krishna Nagar where the senior NC leader and former Minister, Ajay Sadhotra, ex MLC Kashmira Singh and ex MLA Ramban, Chaman Lal welcomed it.
Later it proceeded via Guru Ravi Dass Chowk Jewel, Bhagat Singh Chowk, Upper Gummat, Vivekanda Chowk, Prem Nagar, Gujjar Nagar bridge before culminating at Guru Ravi Dass Temple Bahu Fort.
Hundreds of people enroute greeted the Shoba yatra which comprised of over 200 fully decorated jhankis on tractor trolleys and other four wheelers depicting different aspects of Guru Ravi Dass Ji’s spiritual life. At various places the welcome gates were installed to greet the Shoba yatra.
At Bahu Fort Temple, the Shoba yatra was received by senior Congress leader and former Minister Raman Bhalla who was the chief guest on concluding function. Swami Gurdeep Giri Ji Maharaj delivered spiritual sermons and blessed the Sangat.  Raman Bhalla said that we should follow the teachings of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj and assured full cooperation for hiring helicopter for showering flowers on Shoba yatra next time.
Addressing the gathering  Lochan highlighted the teachings of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj whose message was brotherhood, love  and welfare of mankind.
He said his teachings are relevant at this time when world and mankind is confronted with various problems and conflicts.
He also demanded that reservations to the weaker sections of society should continue in Government services and criticized the Government for its failure to provide reservations in promotions to reserved category employees.
All the arrangements at concluding ceremony were made under the presidentship of Dr. Vijay Shivgotra. Dr. Sanjay Bhasin – president JKRCEA who also spoke on this occasion and declared that on next Shobha Yatra, a helicopter will be hired to shower flower on Shoba Yatra and he donated Rs. 20,000/- to the Sabha on this occasion.
M. L. Banalia extended vote of thanks,  Sham Lal Basson – general secretary conducted the stage and greeted all the members.
Guru Ravi Dass Shoba yatra was taken out at Kathua also on the eve of his 641st Parkash Utsav under the presidenthsip of  Sabha president C R Mundey.
Anju Bala MP from UP and daughter of the soil was the chief guest on the occasion. The function was also attended by MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia.  All the Biradri members assembled in the Guru Ravi Dass temple where the function was held.
Sanjay Bhasin and S R Majotra were also the guests on the occasion. A Nagar Kirtan was also held in the temple in which a large number of the people participated.
