Lal Singh inaugurates Science Exhibition

KATHUA, Nov 26: Member Parliament Udhampur-Doda Constituency, Ch. Lal Singh inaugurated 26th District Level Science Exhibition organized by District Institute of Education and Training   Basohli at Government Higher Secondary School (Girls) Kathua today.
District Development Commissioner, Kathua Zahida Parveen Khan was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Principal DIET Basohli, Tajinder Singh, Chief Education Officer, Kathua DEPO, Kathua, Principal Govt. Higher Secondary School (Girls) Kathua, Principals of various Govt. and private schools, ZEOs, teachers and large number of students were present on the occasion.
Tajinder singh presented the annual report of DIET.
In the Exhibition, 202 science models from various Govt and Private schools of various tehsils of district Kathua were on display which included models on  air pollution, alternative sources of energy, global warming., harmful effects of  mobile phone and towers, solar chimney, organic farming etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Khan said that the aim of organising science exhibition is to inculcate scientific and innovative thinking among the students and to educate them about various scientific advancements in the world.  She said that it is responsibility of the teachers to guide and nurture the students with scientific knowledge.
MP Ch Lal Singh and District Development Commissioner, Kathua inspected the science models, displayed by various Govt. and private schools and interacted with the students regarding their models.
The MP said that science exhibition provides a platform for the students to express their scientific ideas and view points through science models. He asked the teacher community to practically put in use the various innovative scientific ideas put forth by the students in the science exhibition. He appealed the teachers for rain water harvesting from the roofs of the school building.
On the occasion, Ch. Lal Singh announced Rs 1 lakh for the filling and leveling of the Govt Higher Secondary School (Girls) ground.
