Core Group reviews situation

JAMMU, Nov 26: The Core Group today reviewed security scenario in Jammu region including the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) in a meeting chaired by Lt Gen DS Hooda, GOC 16 Corps and Security Advisor to J&K Government and co chaired by Director General of Police Ashok Prasad.
Various aspects of the situation were discussed in the meeting, which was attended by senior officers of Army, police, para-military and civil administration in addition to the Intelligence agencies.
The meeting assumed significance as it came within few days after the terror strike at Narwal after a long time in which a civilian was killed and six others were injured. Also, there had been repeated attempts by the militants to infiltrate into this side from the LoC as well as IB but their plans have been foiled by the security personnel.
An official handout said Lt Gen Hooda and Mr Prasad complimented security forces, Intelligence agencies and civil administration for ensuring peace and tranquility and achieving high degree of synergy in meeting challenges of internal security in Jammu region.
