Rs 98,500 fake currency seized

JAMMU, Nov 27: Police today arrested a civilian recovered Rs 98,500 worth fake Indian currency from his possession in Mendhar town of Poonch district.
The accused has been identified as Shabir Ahmad son of Talib Hussain, a resident of village Deri in Mendhar tehsil.
SSP Poonch Shamsheer Hussain said the accused was arrested from outside the Boys Higher Secondary School when he was moving there under mysterious circumstances.
Arrest was made by police party headed by SDPO Mendhar Amit Bhasin.
The accused was subjected to frisking during which police recovered Rs 98,500 Indian currency from his possession, which turned out to be fake.
Few days back, police had arrested a youth in Poonch and recovered fake currency from him.
The SSP Poonch said a case has been registered against the accused at Mendhar police station to ascertain source of fake currency. The possibility of the fake currency being meant for the militants was not ruled out.
