JAMMU: Government today said 88,040 unemployed youths were registered with various district employment and counselling centres (DECCs) of the State.
State Minister for Works Naeem Akhtar, on behalf of the Finance Minister, informed the Legislative Council that 88,040 unemployed youths were registered with DECCs till the end of 2017.
He, however, said that registration was voluntary and the figure might be more.
Replying to a question by MLC Mian Altaf Ahmad, the Minister said that the Government had taken a number of initiatives to provide employment to qualified youths in the public and private sectors.
He said that the Government had adopted a policy to fast track the recruitment for its departments to fill non-gazetted posts. (AGENCIES)
