Gupta chairs Pahari Advisory Board meeting

RAJOURI, Feb 9: Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Vice Chairman State Advisory Board for the Development of Pahari speaking people today presided over the meeting of State Pahari Advisory Board members belonging to Poonch and Rajouri districts.
Dr. Zakir Hussain Kas, Secretary State Advisory Board made the welcome address.
He apprised the members about the different activities of State Advisory Board. He said the Board has recently released the survey for Pahari ethnicity which is first of its kind. The Minister for Social Welfare has highly appreciated the survey and complimented the Vice Chairman for such activity.
Later the members discussed the problems related to hostels and other problems being faced by Pahari speaking community in general with the Vice Chairman.
Vice chairman in his address expressed gratitude towards the State Government and Chairman State Backward Commission Ajit Lal Gupta for the approval of Jammu and Kashmir reservation (Amendment ) Bill to extend 3 percent reservation to Pahari speaking people in the State.
Vice Chairman said “we are struggling for this amendment for so many years. Gupta gave the credit to all the people involved in the fight for justice to Pahari speaking community.
He said the final battle is getting ST status for the Pahari ethnicity.
All the members who were present highly appreciated the role of Pahari Advisory Board and complimented the Vice Chairman for pursuing the cause of Pahari speaking people.
