JAMMU, Feb 11: Natrang presented a very entertaining performance of an Urdu play ‘Galatfehmi’ in its weekly theatre series, Sunday Theatre here at Natrang Studio, Kachi Chawni.
The play was written by Showket Thannvi and directed by Neeraj Kant. The dramatic action and situational comedy made laughter irresistible for the audience who had a great value of the Sunday.
The play opens at the home of one ‘Nawab Sahab’ who was anxiously waiting for his would be son-in-law, who is also very rich and belongs to a noble family. As he wants this relation certainly to get matured, he decides to offer the best hospitality to the guest.
But things turn comic when a wrong guest arrives, actually a person who had applied for the post of personal assistant of ‘Nawab’ arrives for the interview at the same time and he is mistaken as the son-in-law by Nawab and his servant. Even the younger sisters also consider him their would-be brother-in-law and discuss his pros and cons.
He is very cordially treated which even creates suspicion in his mind as he believes he does not deserve such lavish hospitality. On the other hand, when the real son-in-law arrives, he is considered to be the applicant for the interview of the post of personal assistant and thus treated very ordinarily.
When the truth is revealed at the end, the situation turns bizarre as Nawab wants to punish the guest for not revealing the truth early and also wants the recovery of all his hospitality. A lot of physical action was used in the play which made the impact of this farce even better.
The actors who performed in the play include Zeeshan Haider, Ashley Mehta, Meenakshi Bhagat, Aashish Thakur, Arun Kumar and Sidhant Sathu. The lights of the play were executed by Gautam Kumar whereas Toyab Hussain rendered the music of the play. The show was coordinated by Mohd Yaseen.
