NEW DELHI, Feb 15: Amid pick-up in demand at the domestic spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts, cardamom prices shot up by 2.91 per cent, or Rs 32.90, to Rs 1,162 per kg in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions.
Further, tight supplies from the major producing regions too supported the uptrend in cardamom prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February was trading higher by Rs 32.90, or 2.91 per cent, at Rs 1,162 per kg in a business turnover of 5 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 7.60, or 0.66 per cent, at Rs 1,145 per kg with a trading volume of 12 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick-up in demand at the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions pushed up cardamom prices in futures trade. (PTI)
