CEC reviews arrangements for Losar festival

Leh, Dec 1: CEC LAHDC Rigzin Spalbar today convened a meeting to review the arrangements for Losar at Council Secretariat. The meeting was attended by Addl. DC Tsering Morup, offices of different department Addl. SP P Sonam, LBA representatives and others.
In the meeting, certain important decisions were taken regarding Losar arrangements and most importantly, Spalbar stressed on ensuring uninterrupted power supply. He urged upon everyone present in the meeting to take their responsibility in providing the essential services to public and make the Losar celebration successful.
It was decided in the meeting to supply electricity from 5 pm to 12 mid night on Dec 8, 12 and 13, besides on Dec 13 there will be power supply from 3 am to 12 noon, on Dec 14 from 4 am to 12 noon and 5pm to 1 am and on Dec 15 and 16 from 7 am to 12 noon and 5 pm to 12 midnight.
CEC directed PDD to coordinate with Alchi NHPC and ensure electricity supply on there dates in case of non commencement of Alchi project.
Going by the demands put forth by LBA regarding Losar arrangements, it was decided that as per past practice fixed quantity of kerosene oil will be provided by CA&PD Department through LBA.
The BPL families who do not have ration cards will be given kerosene and sugar only after being verified by area Nambarder, Sarpanch, Councilor and storekeeper of the area.
Similarly, from Dec 6 to 14 Cooperative Dept will start festival discount over their subsidized rate on the essential commodities that will be available at all the cooperative outlets in all the block headquarters and at 3 cooperative shops in Leh itself that will remain open from 10 am to 5 pm and also on Sunday.
CEC also directed Addl DC to make sure the availability of vegetables for the festival and appealed the consumers to be cautious of overcharging or any sort of cheating by shopkeepers.  On the direction of CEC, the representatives of Butcher Association committed that mutton for Losar will be available from Dec 9 to 12 from 10 am onwards in almost 20 mutton shops.
