‘Crorepati’ Junior Asstt booked by Vigilance

JAMMU, Dec 1: State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today registered a case against Shabir Ahmed Magray, the then Junior Assistant in the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department, Reasi for possessing assets disproportionate to his known source of income.
An official spokesman said that the Junior Assistant Shabir Ahmed Magray, son of Bashir Ahmad Magray of village Trintha, Reasi has been booked on the basis of an enquiry conducted into the allegations of raising disproportionate assets.
During verification by the Vigilance sleuths it came to fore that Shabir Ahmad Magray is in possession of a double storey building on a plot of 8 marlas at Trintha valuing about Rs 60 lakh, one double storey building on one kanal of land at Sidhra valuing Rs 40 lakh, a piece of land measuring 8 kanals and 12 marlas at Reasi valuing Rs 20,000, land measuring 12 marlas at Reasi valuing Rs 15,000, land at Batote valuing Rs 84,000, vehicle valuing Rs 4 lakh, steel fabrication shop at Trintha valuing Rs 2 lakh in his name and in the name of his wife.
The total value of the assets has been worked out at Rs 1.07 crore which is disproportionate to his known source of income.
“The relevant record and documents pertaining to disproportionate assets have been seized after obtaining search warrant from the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption, Jammu”, the spokesman said, adding “a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused official and further investigation of the case has been entrusted to Inspector Manjeet Singh”.
